M. Sc. (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) is a postgraduate two year course designed to train science graduates in synthetic as well as combinatorial chemistry with ample scope in bulk drug industry.

1st Year

Autumn Term

Autumn Term is the first/odd semester of an academic session/year.

MODERN ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES

Enhance the understanding of concepts of drug analysis.

MODERN ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES LABORATORY

Enhance knowledge and skills on the analysis of various drugs and its dosage forms.

PHYSICAL PHARMACY

Provide indepth understanding of physical pharmacy and their applications in the development of desired dosage forms.

PHARMACEUTICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Focuses on the study of cell, biomolecules and various chemical processes associated with living cells.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Emphasizes on general principles of organic chemistry and focuses on reaction mechanisms.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY-LABORATORY-II

Impart knowledge about synthetic conversions of organic functional groups, mechanism of reactions and stereochemistry in organic compounds.

Spring Term

Spring Term is the second/even semester of an academic session/year.

PHARMACEUTICS

Advanced study of production methodology involved in the formulation of different dosage forms like tablets, capsules and powders.

PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY

Emphasizes on the chemical structure, nomenclature, structure activity relationship and synthesis of various drugs.

PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS

Advanced study of principles and techniques involved in quality control of drugs.

PRE-DISSERTATION

Imparts knowledge regarding literature survey and work plan designing for research studies.

PHARMACEUTICS LABORATORY

Impart practical skills involved in preparation of solid, semi solid, ophthalmic and parenteral dosage forms.

PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY

Impart training to the students in various titration methods used for the analysis of medicinal compounds.

2nd Year

Autumn Term

Autumn Term is the first/odd semester of an academic session/year.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Understanding of basic and applied concept in research.

ORGANIC SYNTHESIS-THE DISCONNECTION APPROACH

Impart knowledge about disconnection approach for retro synthetic analysis of simple and complex molecules to understand mechanisms of various reactions used in organic synthesis.

SOFT SKILLS

Develop argumentation and debate skills.

DISSERTATION-I

Provides the hands-on experience on the preparation of dissertation, writing the manuscript for publication consideration and preparation of power point presentation.

MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY-I

Impart knowledge of the computer aided drug design.

PHARMACOLOGY

Focuses on mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, uses and side-effects of various drugs.

PHARMACEUTICAL ENGINEERING

Acquaint with equipments and unit operations involved in development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.

MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY LABORATORY

Impart practical skills for carrying out different reactions involved in the synthesis of medicinally active compounds.

DISSERTATION II

Eligibility

Pass  in Bachelors degree (Medical or Non-Medical or Pharmacy or Biosciences) or equivalent and ELR.
